Job Overview

The 3rd Shift Supervisor oversees the activities of the Finishing and Die-Cutting Departments. The position is responsible for all processes, equipment, and employees within these departments. Position ensures that established policies and procedures are followed as they relate to quality, the Employee Handbook, safety, and housekeeping. In addition, focuses on improvement and implementing changes.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Manage Equipment Preventative Maintenance Program for Die-cutting and Finishing
  • Supervises daily activities of subordinates
  • Establishes machine schedules to efficiently flow orders through the plant
  • Maintains adherence to company policies, safety standards, and housekeeping
  • Monitors employee performance
  • Coordinates machines schedules and personnel assignments during the shift
  • Reacts to rush jobs and schedule requirements
  • Oversee training of department staff
  • Investigate quality problems and determines corrective actions
  • Communication with sales department on job or customer related issues
  • Manages work schedules, vacations, and overtime
  • Participates in meetings as needed
  • Conducts department meetings as needed
  • Communicates with staff regarding procedures, quality issues, and requirements
  • Monitors daily production logs and follows-up low output and downtime
  • Monitors department efficiencies and production goals
  • Administers annual performance reviews
  • Administers employee counseling and disciplinary write ups as required
  • Works to implement changes and improvements
  • Participates in the “On-Going Improvement” process
  • Manages safety
  • Oversees the Sheeting, Printing, Kluge, and Warehouse departments during 3rd shift
  • Works closely with operations team, Human Resources, and Safety Director to ensure employee safety, product quality, production efficiency, and compliance with company policy and procedures.
  • Perform any additionally assigned duties as requested.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree in a relevant discipline
  • 3-5 years of related work experience
  • 2 years previous management experience; or
  • An equivalent amount of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and to speak effectively before groups of employees
  • Possess basic math skills, such as the ability to calculate figures such as percentages, proportions and fractions, draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees or managers
  • Follow procedures, specifications, and guidelines for the position

  • Ability to analyze information to make critical decisions
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written or verbal); achieving cooperation and acceptance of changes
